Here is my bathroom before:

When I moved in, I hung this very expensive "raw" embossed paper on the walls. Being unfinished, it had to painted, stained, or sealed in some way. I chose white, semi-gloss paint. Loved it!

The ceiling was painted a pretty sky blue for several years.

I added the beaded fringe some years later.

These are reproductions of several Bill Randall pin-ups (vintage 1940s).

Here it is after:

It can take several coats of paint to go from a rich color to a pastel color. I needed two coats to cover the sky blue. The new paint is calle "Wine Frost" from Olympic Paints.

Peek-a-boo! I see you, Sky Blue!

Mission accomplished! I put my Randall prints back up and my Jayne Mansfield hot water bottle is sitting on the vanity. I moved a white 'over-the-toilet' cabinet out of the room. Didn't really need it anyway. My rubber duckies lived in it mostly. They are now scattered around the house. Most of them live in the laundry room these days.

The hardware had a vintage look but was the wrong color. I painted the pieces black. I wasn't sure I'd like it so in this picture, the hinges are done yet. They are now black as well.

Such a pretty frosty pink ceiling! Never be afraid of color.

I repainted the frame of this reverse mirror black, as I did the clock frame. Black anchors a room when it is heavily color saturated.

What is a reverse mirror? It is angled and directly in front of a main mirror. It enables the viewer to see behind her head to see her "do" or if her jeans make her look fat! LOL

The wall color is "Belgian Waffle," also from Olympic paints. Both the ceiling and the walls are semi-gloss paint. While I generally use eggshell or satin, this works for this room. Being small and the surfaces textured, it adds light refraction and makes it look larger and brighter. I also added "paint crystals" in gold from Valspar paint (sold by Lowes) to the Belgian Waffle walls. It is sooooooo elegant in person. The walls sparkle light they are covered by pixie dust!

I know pale pink and pale yellow are an unusual color combo, but actually most colors in their pastel shade look great together but people don't normally think to use them in the same room. These two colors are used in the master bedroom (on the bedwall) so the two rooms meld seamlessly together. My bed is dressed in black so it anchors the color richness found in that room too.
